Librarians as Teachers Network

Just reading an interesting paper for something completely unconnected and came across this quote:

"The main gaps that librarians noted in their library schohol education was the lack of preparation for teaching and training..." (Petrinic and Urquhart 2007).

I certainly don't remember doing much on learning and teaching for my library qualification - or CILIP chartership.

Given that there are librarians from just about every sector on this site who are involved in some form of education - should educational practice be part of library/ information studies courses?

I am manage a school library and teach a 10 wk Study skills

course to Post 16 students as well as 1:1 study sessions. I am

a qualified librarian but would like to indertake a teaching

qualification whilst remaining in post! Can anyone help?!
